    • A Massive Honky-Tonk Thank You
    • A Massive Honky-Tonk Thank You - 29/08/11

As always there are many very special and generous people that we’d like to thank for supporting culturepool over the last twelve months (indeed, last five years!). There are far too many to mention here but we beam our gratitude and love!  And to those who helped us celebrate our 5th birthday ...

Thanks to all those who have generously donated a prize to the Honky in the Hay game which will contribute towards the running costs of the Above the Beaten Tracks festival: the crafty creative Clare @ Landbaby; dynamic Claire Rider @ National Museums Liverpool; lovies Max & Simon @ the Liverpool Shakespeare Festival; the deceptively laid-back Beaten Tracks DJs Richie Vegas & Jonnie O’Hare; detailed artist Laura Chapman; prolific doer and all-round great guy Dave McTague @ Mellowtone; Liverpool music champions Graham & Stuart from Liverpool Acoustic; the effervescent Dawn Williams @ the Liverpool Philharmonic; marketing guru Scott from the Everyman Playhouse; the very lovely Joan from FACT; the eternally enthusiastic Chris Carney & Martina Murphy from TeamCUC; creative workshop pixies Becky & Camilla from Craft Creative; passionate hum-u-ment artist Delia Brady-Jacobs; Barefoot Wine aficionado Hannah; human pencils Draw the Line; all the musicians who donated CDs; and the amazing musician and song-writer Alun Parry, another all-round great guy

And of course the artists who have, just as generously, played our birthday stage for FREE! The one and only culturepool birthday troubadour Tom George with Felix Ngindu; Kaya, Greta Core & Ben Power who make up the quirky pop trio The Science of the Lamps; and un-restrained rock missionaries Alan O’Hare, Tom Carroll, Michael ‘Tet’ Tetlow &’Howie’ Northover of the The Trestles . And a BIG THANKS to Tom and his tech wizards from The Bluecoat for looking after the stage and rising to the wet challenge of moving the outside stage inside!

And not forgetting the fabulous peeps and volunteers at Mellowtone, Liverpool Acoustic, Beaten Tracks, Draw The Line, See the Sound, Lazy Genius, TV Lux & The Bluecoat and our festival snapper, artist Nicola Hands.

       Big honky tonk love, y’all!!

    • 5th Birthday line-up - Tom George
    • 5th Birthday line-up - Tom George - 21/08/11

We can’t quite recall how we linked up with Tom George, but you find that sometimes with good friendships.

Tom’s been a regular feature of culturepool’s birthday celebrations since he played our very first birthday party at the Everyman Bistro when he was so popular that some of the audience asked if we could stop other people talking when he was playing!

A singer song-writer, Tom also writes poetry (which he sometimes performs in bag) and runs the popular Culture Crawls around Liverpool. Tom’s played every stage we’ve ever hosted, including the infamous Threshold Festival gig with David Hoyle, and we’re made up he’s joining our 5th birthday bash as it just wouldn’t be the same without him.

Come and join us at this FREE birthday gig on the 27th August as part of the Above The Beaten Track Festival.
